Colandish Recipes
Tomato & Basil Pasta
Colandish is the all-in-one solution to this classic family favourite. As it can be used to strain, serve, seal and save for later, you will have more time to enjoy your meal in the company of family and friends.
Ingredients
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
3 x 400g cans of chopped tomatoes
¼ - ½ tsp dried chilli flakes
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp sugar
1 large handful basil leaves, torn into small pieces
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Grated Parmesan, to serve (optional)
Perfect pasta in 3 easy steps
1 - Drain
After boiling your pasta for 11 minutes, use the Colandish to drain the water into the sink.
2 - Flip
After draining the excess water away, flip up the silicone trivet to seal the Colandish's holes.
3 - Mix
Once your sauce has finished simmering (method below), pour it into the Colandish and mix.
Tomato Sauce Method
Boil the pasta for 11 minutes and strain in the Colandish when cooked. Flip up the silicone base for mess-free storage.
Heat the oil in a saucepan and gently cook the onion and garlic until softened. Stir in the tomatoes, chilli flakes, balsamic vinegar and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook slowly for 45 minutes -1 hour.
Stir in the basil and season with salt and pepper. Serve after mixing thoroughly with cooked pasta in the Colandish, with plenty of parmesan cheese on the top.
Enjoy Your Meal!
With the silicone trivet flipped up, ensure that the sauce is thoroughly mixed with the pasta. There is no need to worry about heat damage to your surfaces as the silicone will protect them.
